Think Tank Thursday

“It Takes a Long Time…

… That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are REAL you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

Do you want to be real too? I do.

I don’t know about you, but I began life early, went to college at 16, eager to grow up and spread my wings, sure that I had the magic juice to set the world on fire. And in many ways I did, I guess. I’ve lived an amazing life. Even now, sitting here at my desk, looking across the street at this beautiful old building and the flower basket of red geraniums, blooming in the cold Paris weather, I feel really blessed.

But, how many times did you read the story of the Velveteen Rabbit to someone you loved?

Intent on conveying the message to an eager little face, that sometimes life loves off the things we think are so important, before we discover what is truly valuable.

It took me 30 years to make it back to Paris to live. I’ve had some of my fur loved off, my joints are looser, and yes, overall, I’m a bit shabbier. But, I’ve written two books, and am almost finished with my 370-page novel.

Once I began to write, I finally became real.

Living a real life that I only dreamed about years ago.

Writing showed me how to Redefine Possible.

If you are a woman who has spent the last 20 years working on that dream career only to find yourself feeling, well….. a little shabby for the wear, let me share a little hope.

Everything you are, everything you’ve worked so hard to do, your experiences, your education, the shear fact that you got out of bed today, and yesterday, and the day before….

your ideas, your dreams, your longings, those things dancing around your head that get buried under your day to day obligations…

Make you real.

Don’t you want to share THAT story?

Writing it can change YOUR life too.

Are you ready?

Let’s do this.

Oh, and leave comments, or connect with me!

I would love to hear from you.

À tout à l’heure
